Here is the email I received from Intel Support: If we attract enough attention from Microsoft or Intel they will fix the Intel 82855 graphics driver support eventually. Does anybody know whether this is possible on Windows Vista? I wouldn't even mind the 1280x768 resolution if it cutted the desktop horizontally leaving a small blank line at the top or bottom of the screen but I haven't come across an option like this yet. Does anybody else use the intel 82855 graphics card together with a widescreen panel and did anybody of you guys report this problem to Microsoft and Intel? Actually it's quite embarrassing that a device that old is not support by a brand new operating system. Obviously, this way 32 pixels are missing horizontally and while you might think 32 pixels isn't that much I can tell you that it screws up your rendering completely even making small fonts almost impossible to encouter. The graphics driver seems to be recognized properly by vista (at least I didn't get an error message) but the highest resolution I can go up to without the desktop no longer fitting on the screen is 1280x768 instead of 12800x800 (I have a widescreen panel). Both solutions above are neither tested, advised or supported by neither Intel nor you OEM vendor.I've got the same problem and it really sucks! I'm not sure though whether the problem is related to the graphics controller or the panel. Intel doesn't have end user support regarding those issues. However they contain more updated DirectX and OpenGL drivers:īTW: wrong forum. Standby/Suspend and such things may not work as expected any longer.

They are more complicated to install and maintain - their are intended for embedded solutions. If you are an advanced (make a backup first) user, you may try the IEGD 8.0 drivers.

You won't get more recent drivers due to EOL. If you suffer from overheating, NHC can solve it. Or if you're more advanced use RMClock (free version sufficient):Īs soon as you see the slowdown, swith to Windows and watch temperature and CPU Clock in system tray. First make sure you do not suffer from these problems by installing NHC. In the throttle case your CPU temperature will be >70C and the CPU clock much lower than your maximum core clock (1,6GHz? 1,8GHz?). In these cases you see a dramatic slowdown as soon as a certain temperature is reached.

If the CPU get's too hot, it gets throttled automatically.

Some laptops are awefully designed (even brand laptops) and cannot cool the unit in extreme situations. And the chipset is EOL thus you hardly get support. This is definitely the wrong laptop to play games. I have tried to change the rams' slots or using them one by one it didn't help. I have formatted harddisk, installed windows and necessary drivers and I havent installed any other program, to test it without any program working on background. But again it does the same thing and more frequent. I play the game a bit then the game slows than for 2 or more minutes.
